Looking for some things to do while on your next French beach camping trip? Here’s some tips and inspiration for you!
Enjoy a ride along a traffic-free cycle highway in France, such as La Vélodyssée, which follows the Atlantic Ocean down France’s west coast, and enjoy breathing in the fresh sea air. Great for all levels of cyclist, your family will love the scenery they see on the route. Remember your cycle bells, as they’re a requirement in France.
Head over to a nearby seaside town, such as Capbreton in the southwest of the country or Dinard in the north, where you can soak up local culture and enjoy a stroll along the seafront. Bring your swimwear, as your family may want to go for a dip while they’re there.
One activity that’s great fun for all the family, you can enjoy paddle-boarding in a safe and supervised environment such as Courant de Soustons, an area of ocean which is shielded from the larger waves. Bring your sun cream, as the heat can be deceiving when you’re in the water.
It won’t take you long from your campsite to find a delightful town with a quaint port to walk around. Head to Port La Rochelle, which is filled with hundreds of boats for both leisure and fishing. An impressive sight, there are also several cafes you can stop at to refresh along the way.
Enjoy a walk with your family at one of many Regional Parks along the coastline in France. Never far from your seaside campsite, you can go to places like Armorique in Brittany or Vosges du Nord in Normandy and enjoy a coastal walk with your family. Look after your feet and remember your hiking boots.
Along the French coastline there is lots of fresh food being caught and prepared on a daily basis. Sustainably sourced, the French have been mussel-farming for years, so why not go and check out a mussel farm in the bay of Saint-Brieut in Brittany and enjoy a great day out before tasting the catch for yourself.
A seaside campsite holiday wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the beach. Pack your bucket and spade and go to one of many family-friendly beaches in France, such as Plage du Midi in Golfe-Juan, which is perfect for children of all ages. Take a sun hat, as the sun can get pretty bright reflecting off the water.
With so many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in France, there is bound to be one close to your seaside campsite. Take a trip to Mont St Michel, a small island off the Normandy coast, which is a family favourite and a great day out. Take your camera, as here you will get the perfect opportunity for a family photo.
There’s a ton of great benefits to a seaside camping holiday whether you’re a camping beginner or a seasoned veteran of the French camping scene, they include:
Take time away from your normal, fast-paced routine and reconnect with your family. Learn about each other’s interests and passions in an environment which gives you time for one another. Return from your holiday having formed new connections with your family which you perhaps wouldn’t have had time for had you not broken away from your normal routine.
Whether it’s enjoying time by the campsite swimming pool or out exploring by the seaside, there are loads of activities for you and your family to enjoy. From children’s activities to adventures for the whole family, you and your kids will love the entertainment on offer.
Enjoy waking up to fresh sea air every morning and clear your mind with every breath. Go back home after your holiday feeling rejuvenated and ready to go after a peaceful and tranquil stay at a seaside campsite.
No matter what you’re doing, you will know that your children are being supervised while they have the time of their lives. Whether it’s in the swimming pool or at the children’s club, there will be a qualified professional on hand to make sure they are safe.
Camping provides a brilliant place for you and your family to meet new, like-minded people. With it being such a multinational pastime, it also provides a great opportunity to teach your children about other cultures and languages too.
